About

There are always two sides to every story.

My Story

The Short…

I have a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Skidmore College. As an active member of SCBWI, I attend workshops and classes whenever possible to continuously advance my skills. I am the founder and lead writer/editor of Silverpen Productions, LLC—a content services agency—and I’ve had many articles published in various magazines and online mediums. On the side, I teach ballroom dance for people of all ages, and I especially enjoy my work with wedding couples and teenage performance groups. I believe dreams can come true, and that passion, hard work, and a dose of love and kindness can achieve just about anything!

The Longer…

I have been a part of the writing world all of my life. Crafting stories, articles, children’s books, and plays since I was little, I decided to turn my passion into a full-time career. I graduated Skidmore College with a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While there, I was lucky enough to study with several prize and Pulitzer prize-winning authors and teachers.

I interned as a screenwriter & producer’s assistant at 20th Century Fox in Beverly Hills, California before working in an editorial capacity with textbooks at several top publishing companies, including Pearson Prentice Hall, McGraw-Hill, Elsevier, and Delmar Cengage. During that time, I earned a second author credit for Delmar Cengage’s Agricultural Mechanics: Fundamentals & Applications Lab Manual 5E.

I often write articles for websites and magazines, and I am the Editor/Content Coordinator for the Clifton Park Neighbors and Niskayuna Neighbors magazines through Best Version Media. I am lucky enough to interview many fascinating people for these articles. In addition to the privilege of learning their stories, it also affords me the opportunity to get ideas for new characters. You can read many of their stories on the portfolio of my professional site. My past work as a substitute teacher within multiple school districts as well as my experience as a teacher and director for teenage dance and performance groups has greatly influeced and energized my writing as well.

I opened my company, Silverpen Productions, LLC, to help other businesses, non-profits, and publications have quality, customized content and marketing materials that can help them stay competitive while still fitting into their budget restraints.

On the personal side of things ~
My family is my everything. People intrigue me. I love to laugh. I adore children’s literature, and the Hallmark channel is my guilty pleasure. Spending time outside with my family is one of my favorite activities, but if I’m not writing or fulfilling mom duties, you can often find me hitting up a Zumba class or chilling out on a yoga mat. I played on a curling team in high school (the one with the brooms, not my hair—that’s already curly enough!), and I treasured my time being a part of the theater world.

I love words, so I have enjoyed every type of writing I have tried so far. However, my true passion is creative writing. There is something so magical about being able to create a world and characters that others can relate to and escape from life for a little while. I have written across genres, but tend to concentrate in the world of children & young adults. I am an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, and I am so excited to introduce you to my world!

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, ‘I’m possible’!”
